Leaving vs Fading

Leaving...

It’s like making a deep cut on your skin

With a sharp knife

It hurts and it makes you bleed

It takes time to heal

If deep enough, it might even leave you with a big scar

And that scar will always remind you of what happened

But fading...

It’s like the erosion made on the rock by the waves of the ocean

Through your eyes, it looks the same everyday

So gradual, so subtle

You won’t even notice the change

It doesn’t hurt

You don’t bleed, in fact you won’t even feel anything

And suddenly one day, it’ll just be forgotten 

Things won’t look the same anymore

But no one will remember how it used to be before

I don’t leave. 

I fade away when I’m not needed anymore. 

You won’t even notice my absence by then.
